Project Manager - Public Works Construction

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager – Public Works Construction

Cobalt Recruitment is partnering with a well‑established, family‑owned general contractor to identify Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers for several active public works and transit infrastructure projects throughout the NY/NJ metro area. Current projects include work at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), the rehabilitation of Newport Station, and additional Port Authority and NJ Transit engagements. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, growing organization with a strong pipeline of high‑visibility public infrastructure work.

• Manage and coordinate submittals, RFIs, and subcontractor activities throughout the project lifecycle
• Coordinate construction integration and commissioning activities with owner agencies (e.g., Port Authority) and other contractors
• Oversee testing and inspection activities to ensure compliance with project specifications
• Manage BIM coordination with internal BIM managers, owner BIM managers, and subcontractors, including required documentation
• Coordinate project closeout documentation, punch lists, and maintain closeout logs
• Assist with change order management, including tracking and maintaining the change order log
• Review and process subcontractor payment applications
• Support schedule updates, progress reporting, and coordination among project team members

• Minimum 2 years of public works, ground‑up construction experience
• Experience with rehabilitation projects a plus

• Minimum 5 years of public works construction experience
• Port Authority or transit/rail agency experience strongly preferred
• Ground‑up construction background preferred
• Proven ability to manage subcontractor coordination, testing/inspection, and closeout processes
