GPI is seeking Construction Inspectors to provide construction inspection services on various Road & Bridge Construction projects throughout the state of New Jersey for NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority, NJ Transit, DRPA & County projects. Candidates will inspect work & traffic control performed by the contractor to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting the project Resident Engineer with project administration.
  • Complete daily reports, quantity calculations, and reports for construction work observed.
  • Perform daily construction inspection of work activities.
  • Collection of material samples.
  • Field testing and sampling of concrete in accordance with ASTM standard procedures.
  • Utilize field testing equipment to conduct in-place density tests of asphalt and/or soil.
Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Prior experience in performing construction inspection.
  • Must be physically capable and willing to work outdoors.
  • Work Contractor hours, may include nights and weekends.
  • One or more of the following current certifications:
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field-Testing Technician and/or Concrete Construction Technology / Special Inspector.
  • NJSAT Asphalt Technician Certification (preferred).
  • Rutgers TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator) Certification (preferred).
  • Hot Mix Asphalt Density Testing Inspector / NETTCP HMA Plant Technician.
  • NICET Highway Construction Inspection/Concrete/Asphalt/Soils.
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Training.
Requirements
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site.
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members.
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 to 8 hours a day.
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19” or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.).
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working.
  • Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds.
