Senior Industrial Engineer, CIP Engineering

The Sr. Industrial Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing common contract logistics processes and driving continuous performance improvement. This engineer provides engineering support for new and expanding business implementations, supports multifaceted operations, contributes to facility layout and design, determines appropriate equipment, and leads any necessary vendors for implementation. The role maintains financial and engineering metrics to exceed performance goals and provides guidance and training to interns or co‑ops.
Key Responsibilities- Keep informed of best‑in‑class tools and techniques needed for solution design.
- Track all projects and provide communication and guidance to engineering leadership.
- Determine and enlist resources required to support targeted changes in continuous improvement projects including WMS Engineering, Operations, Human Resources, Quality, etc.
- Analyze workflow including inbound, put away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, and VAS processes to ensure accuracy and execution capability.
- Ensure all distribution system functionality (e.g., WMS, LMS) is configured to optimize performance.
- Perform special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functions.
- Perform cost/benefit trade‑off analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system, or technology change.
- Develop logistics engineering strategies with the engineering leadership team.
- Participate in DSV Quality Planning (DQP) sessions with new clients to validate requirements and processes.
- Support local operations with pricing analysis and support.
- Document and communicate common processes for all distribution functions within scope of responsibility.
- Review data and summarize expectations to address gaps in operation.
- Identify areas for improvement based on analysis of data and observations.
- Communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Help determine key metrics and provide recommendations to guide management.
- Assist with developing and presenting training materials and classes for distribution processes.
- Bring cross‑functional teams together to collaborate on projects.
- Support the labor management program, including methods and procedures, engineered labor standards.
- Ensure alignment among all operations' policies, procedures, and ongoing improvement projects.
- Educate team in LEAN methodology to support sustainable continuous improvement culture.
- Facilitate use of LEAN methodology in collaboration with our global team and recommend solutions.
- Deploy statistical tools such as Pareto charts, histograms, and cause & effect diagrams.
- Leverage value‑stream mapping to identify critical‑to‑quality points.
- Use FMEA of the process being evaluated to quantify impact.
- Maintain subject‑matter expertise in Six Sigma DMAIC, value‑stream mapping, and 5S.
- Work with leadership to drive continual improvement programs, Kaizen events, and workshops.
- Set the standard for innovation within strategic and operational problem solving.
- Apply traditional concepts to a variety of material handling environments.
- Ensure that all projects include a sustainability component and drive adherence within the organization.
- Illustrate continual improvement successes in a case study format that quantifies value.
- Assist with developing and rolling out strategies and projects.
- Determine feasibility of projects factoring costs, available space, schedule limitations, company goals, technical requirements, and economic factors.
- Develop and implement project activity plans and timelines, coordinate subcontractors, facility management, and field service personnel, and resolve problems to ensure contractual commitments are met.
- Drive standard approach for US‑based operations and coordinate with Canadian counterparts.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Backup engineering leadership on occasion.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility toward the department budget.
- Comply with internal labor regulations, HR procedures, security, safety, and hygiene measures.
