Required:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience with BS/BA;
Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA;
Minimum of 7 years with PhD - Background in optical system testing and development including prototyping designs
- Ability to use Zemax/Ansys Optic Studio, or other optical analysis (e.g. ray tracing simulation) software to design prototype systems and generate performance parameters of external manufactured products
- Familiarity with lab hardware such as laser drivers/modulation sources, lock-in amplifiers, motion stages, spectrometers, and optical detectors and sensors
- Familiar with C#, Python, or MATLAB for automating data collection and analysis
- Proficient in writing technical documentation in MS word and Power Point
- Secret Clearance w/ ability to apply/hold Top Secret clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Background in photonics plus mechanical, computer, or electrical engineering
- Experience with in-depth analysis of optical systems for reverse engineering
- Knowledge of electro-optically guided missile system operation and/or countermeasure techniques
- Top Secret Clearance

This position is part-time, expected at less than 20 hours/week. The candidate will possess the ability to work independently in a small multi-disciplinary team utilizing their experience to design and test optical systems. Creating optical systems for prototyping and field deployable systems as well as testing external manufactured products is necessary. Creation of test reports will be required to define the parameters of optical systems and their performance boundaries.

- Provide expertise in analyzing optical systems with both known and unknown properties
- Learn to operate all laboratory test equipment to ensure accurate results
- Ability to research optical concepts and hardware to determine use cases or purpose of design
