We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Lead Engineer Electrical & Power Management (Global) to strengthen our Technology and Reliability team.

This is a key technical leadership role where you will define and drive the electrical and power management strategy across our global product portfolio. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our electrical systems are safe, reliable, standardized, and fit for future operational needs.

Role Summary

As Lead Engineer Electrical & Power Management, you will:

  • Ensure Enhanced Drilling's electrical and power systems are safe, reliable, compliant, and highly available throughout their lifecycle.
  • Define robust protection philosophies and power integrity principles.
  • Drive standardization across electrical architectures, components, and documentation.
  • Define monitoring and acceptance requirements to ensure systems meet operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement and development initiatives within the electrical discipline.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Define requirements for safe and predictable electrical operation, including normal operation, alarms, and safe states.
  • Establish principles for electrical event alarming, including actionable alarms and prioritization.
Availability
  • Define health and performance monitoring requirements for critical electrical assets, including thermal indicators, insulation monitoring where relevant, power quality trends, and load profiles.
  • Define electrical failure and downtime taxonomy to enable meaningful analytics and continuous improvement.
Robustness and System Integrity
  • Define protection philosophies, including selectivity and coordination principles, redundancy strategies, and handling of power disturbances.
  • Define grounding and earthing principles and establish robustness requirements, including EMC resilience where applicable.

Establish and maintain standards for:

  • Electrical architecture principles and documentation packages.
  • Component standardization, including UPS systems, VFDs, transformers, and protection relays.
  • Documentation consistency across product lines.
Maintenance and Lifecycle Management
  • Define maintenance philosophies and requirements for testing, inspection, preventive maintenance (PM), and condition-based maintenance (CBM).
  • Define requirements within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including electrical asset structures, task templates, and failure codes.
Compliance
  • Define requirements related to national and international electrical standards and regulations, including ABS, DNV, ATEX, and IECEx requirements.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are reflected in company standards, design rules, and acceptance criteria.
Development and Continuous Improvement
  • Lead continuous development initiatives within the electrical discipline to improve operability, availability, and robustness.
  • Drive development activities to meet future functional requirements.
  • Validate new developments through qualification activities and operational performance.
  • Lead or contribute to root cause analyses (RCAs) for electrical failures, trips, and degradation events, ensuring lessons learned are implemented in standards and design practices.
Qualifications and Experience
  • BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline (MSc preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience within electrical engineering and power systems.
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, protection philosophies, VFDs, transformers, and Ex compliance.
  • Broad multidisciplinary understanding of rotating equipment, process systems, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of relevant offshore and subsea regulations and standards.
  • Understanding of drilling processes and subsea equipment is considered an advantage.
  • Understanding of well control principles is considered an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
