Staff AuditorLocation: Melville, NY or Iselin, NJ (On-site 3-4 days/week)
Industry Focus: Mortgage Banking, Private Debt Funds, Depositories, and Credit Unions
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range; $85,000 - $100,000
- Bonus: Discretionary, based on performance (can be up to 20%)

My client is a fast-growing financial services advisory firm specializing in niche verticals such as mortgage banking, private debt funds, depositories, and credit unions. The firm places a high value on client relationships, integrity, and developing strong internal talent. With ~90 employees across three offices, they offer the stability of a well-established firm and the agility of a closely held team.
WhoWe're Looking For:
This is a great opportunity for someone currently in a Big 4 or mid-tier public accounting firm who wants more visibility, a better work-life balance post-busy season, and room to grow in a specialized financial services firm.
Responsibilities:Staff Auditor:
- Assist in audits of financial institutions and related entities
- Perform substantive audit testing and document findings
- Collaborate with seniors and managers to execute audit plans
- Engage with clients as needed, particularly during busy season
Required for Both Roles:
- At least 3 busy seasons of public accounting audit experience
- Strong understanding of audit methodology
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to work on-site in Walnut Creek 3-4 days/week
- Ambition to pursue a CPA license (if not already licensed)
- Experience with financial services clients (mortgage banking, private debt funds, etc.)
- ICFR (Internal Controls over Financial Reporting) experience —
this is a big plus - CPA license or parts passed for senior-level
- Work Schedule: Heavy hours during Q1 (Jan-April), lighter in summer
- Travel: Minimal — 3-5 times/year, mostly local; Q1 concentrated
