We are currently seeking a Corporate Payroll Specialist role in our headquarters in Avenel, NJ.
Job SummaryThe Payroll Specialist supports the Payroll & Benefits Manager in the employee compensation, payroll, and benefits programs. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of HR while being challenged and wants to take ownership of their responsibilities. This role reports directly to the Payroll & Benefits Manager.
- Administers employee insurance programs including life, disability, and health insurance plans
- Serves as payroll backup and must be able to independently run payroll with 650+ employees
- Support annual 401K audits, Workman’s Comp true‑up reports, and other annual reports
- Advises and informs employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions
- Assist and helps facilitate annual open enrollment
- Completes records, reporting, and other documentation required by federal and state
- Ensures and understands multi‑state compliance, especially CA state
- Proactively communicate with staff at all levels throughout the organization
- Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information
- Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions
- Assists with all terminations and subsequent record keeping, communication and offboarding, supports in benefit questions
- Proactively assists new hires and existing employees with benefits enrollment, life‑qualifying events, and other pay and benefits questions throughout the year
- Responsible for ensuring employee files are accurately maintained
- Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge
- Prepare and analyze various reports including payroll registers, headcount, and over time.
- Timesheet review and audit timecards to ensure compliances especially CA state
- Utilize reporting functions within ADP & Oracle
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in compensation and benefits administration
- Performs other related duties as assigned

- Three years of experience administering full‑cycle payroll and benefits required
- High school Diploma required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and organization skills
- Must be able to independently run payroll as needed
- Ability to work with HRIS system (ADP)
- Professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor required
- Ability to multi‑task while maintaining a high level of focus
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and compliances
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information at all times
- Ability and desire to take ownership while maintaining a strong sense of teamwork
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Spanish speaking preferred but not required
