Data Analyst, Business Systems/ Tech Analyst, Data Science Manager
The Data & Analytics Analyst will report into the Direct Group Financial Planning & Analysis team and play a critical role by leveraging both their technical skills to collaborate with stakeholders throughout the group and develop datasets and management information reports to support analytical reviews of operational workflows, marketing performance, and profitability to guide financial decision-making for the Direct Group.
Successful candidates will leverage SQL, automation, and data visualization tools such as Tableau to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable insights across the organization. The role also provides hands-on exposure to forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and executive-level reporting. This opportunity is well-suited for candidates who are motivated by problem-solving, data-driven analysis, and collaboration with business leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Work with large-scale datasets within the enterprise data warehouse to support analytical and reporting needs.
- Build and maintain SQL-driven automated reporting and data visualizations using Excel and BI tools.
- Design, enhance, and maintain recurring and ad hoc reporting to improve insight delivery, reduce redundancy, and increase automation and efficiency.
- Support financial planning and analysis activities, with cross-training across forecasting, budgeting, and performance management.
- Demonstrate or develop a strong understanding of insurance and financial concepts, including P&Ls, expense and loss ratios, rate impacts, and marketing performance across underwriting, sales, and claims.
- Communicate analytical insights and recommendations clearly to FP&A leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, with guidance from senior team members.
- Collaborate with analytics and finance teams across the organization to align methodologies and share insights.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business-related field (e.g., Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Computer Science).
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in analytics, finance, business intelligence, or a related field; insurance experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong analytical mindset with intellectual curiosity and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write complex queries, joins, aggregations, and optimize performance.
- Strong candidates will be able to not just support the analytics by curating datasets and building dashboards but also complete the analytics themselves.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data modeling.
- Experience developing dashboards and reports using Tableau or similar BI visualization tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable business insights.
The pay range for this position is $72,500 to $105,000 annually. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
