Overview
Nuveen, a subsidiary of TIAA, is looking for a Senior Lead Application Developer to join the Middle Office Technology team. The role is responsible for the design and development of solutions supporting Middle Office Technology functions. The candidate will collaborate with IT Leadership and Business Unit Leaders to develop strategic roadmaps, drive change initiatives, and deliver plans and deliverables to meet business objectives.
A solid understanding of investment data management processes and technology is required, with collaboration across teams to partner with business stakeholders.
Coordination during critical issues that affect the business or could pose operational risk to Nuveen is expected. As a Senior Lead Developer with subject matter expertise, this role will oversee the full life cycle of solution delivery, including basic research, application configuration, implementation, testing, and support of the solution.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with Leveraged Finance Business and Application Analysts to generate Technical Design by leveraging functional requirement documents and design specifications to migrate applications from On-prem to Cloud.
- Maintain and work closely with business/operation teams related to portal applications day-to-day activities.
- Fix bugs or develop code for new enhancements for portal applications.
- Act as a Technical SME and business point of escalation for design issues.
- Document current state technical workflows and design end-to-end strategic workflows meeting business and operational needs.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of integration and user acceptance testing, build and deploy activities across multiple applications, ensuring issues are resolved timely.
- Assist Project Manager/Cloud Dev Manager to provide accurate technical estimation details to derive target deployment milestones.

Required Skills- 5+ years of Buy/Sell side experience leading Developers to design & code complex projects in Hedge Fund/Investment Manager environments
- Experience in Java/J2EE/Weblogic/Middleware Technologies/SQL/Unix
- 3+ years of experience with AWS and multiple AWS services beyond traditional IaaS
- Hands-on experience with Web Frameworks such as Angular, C#, Spring Boot, React, or Java
- Strong database experience (RDS, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Maven, Docker) and CI/CD pipelines using AWS services or third-party tools
- Two years of programming experience in automating scripts using Python
- Ability to document current and target state technical workflows using tools like Microsoft Visio and Power Point
- Experience in Operations and Production Support
- Exposure to Sterling Integrator, Autosys, Data Stage
- Experience with Eagle STAR, Eagle PACE accounting systems
- Hybrid Project Management methodologies (Waterfall and SCRUM)
- Strong compute, storage, networking, Linux, Azure AD, NAS exposure
- AWS Security, Cloud Security Architecture, third-party security tools, encryption/KMS/CloudHSM, IAM policies/roles
- Cloud Native Architecture: AWS PaaS/SaaS, Serverless, Lambda, API Gateway, SPA frameworks (Angular/React)
$128,000/yr - $174,000/yr
Actual base salary may vary based on experience, location, and other factors. In addition to base salary, compensation may include incentives depending on role and performance.
