Job Description
This temporary Buyer position focuses on managing day-to-day purchasing and supply chain activities to ensure that materials and products are available when needed to support operations, engineering, and service teams. You will use an MRP/ERP system to create and manage purchase orders, track deliveries, maintain vendor relationships, resolve invoice discrepancies, and process change orders. The role also oversees warehouse operations for rental fleet spare parts in coordination with the Warehouse Clerk, while proactively monitoring inventory, expediting late shipments, and communicating with both internal stakeholders and suppliers to support on-time delivery and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily purchasing and procurement activities to ensure timely availability of materials and products for operations, engineering, and service teams.
- Use an MRP/ERP system to create, release, and manage purchase orders, including updates and change orders as needed.
- Track open orders and deliveries, proactively expedite late shipments, and communicate status updates to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships, including ongoing communication regarding pricing, lead times, and delivery performance.
- Coordinate closely with the Warehouse Clerk to oversee warehouse operations related to rental fleet spare parts.
- Monitor inventory levels for spare parts and other materials, helping to prevent stockouts and excess inventory.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies by working collaboratively with suppliers and Accounts Payable to ensure accurate billing and timely payment.
- Support logistics activities related to inbound shipments, including tracking, follow-up, and issue resolution.
- Perform accurate data entry in ERP and related systems to maintain up-to-date purchasing and inventory records.
- Use Microsoft Excel to analyze purchasing data, track order status, and prepare reports or summaries as needed.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, engineering, service, and finance to align purchasing activities with business needs.
- Apply negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers where appropriate.
- Prioritize multiple purchasing tasks and adapt to changing business needs and timelines.
- Demonstrate strong follow-up and problem-solving skills to address supply chain issues quickly and effectively.
Essential Skills
- Purchasing, procurement, or buyer experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience using MRP/ERP systems to create and manage purchase orders.
- Proven experience with purchase order (PO) management, including tracking, updating, and expediting orders.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Vendor and supplier management experience, including relationship building and performance follow-up.
- Experience tracking deliveries and expediting shipments to meet operational timelines.
- Ability to resolve invoice discrepancies and work closely with Accounts Payable.
- Experience with logistics and coordination of inbound materials.
- Accurate data entry skills and familiarity with ERP systems.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing business needs.
- Self-motivated mindset with strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.

- Experience with inventory control and warehouse operations.
- Background in MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) purchasing.

- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting supporting operations and service teams.
Work Environment
This is a 6 month temporary role designed to provide coverage for an existing team member. You will work in a professional environment that relies heavily on MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, to manage purchasing and supply chain activities. The position involves frequent collaboration with operations, engineering, service, warehouse, and finance teams, as well as regular communication with external suppliers.
