Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Assessment:
    Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation; performs age and disease specific assessment/data collection independently; recognizes clinical and diagnostic status changes; identifies patient/family education needs.
  • Planning:
    Develops a plan of care prescribing strategies and interventions; formulates age and disease specific goals; coordinates patient/family focused, prioritized plan of care.
  • Implementation:
    Communicates, coordinates, and implements the plan of care; provides ongoing communication with patient/family, nursing colleagues, other health care team; implements age and disease specific care; performs nursing care and treatments that reflect patient needs; documents events; administers medication utilizing bar-scanning technology; discharges patients to ensure safe transition.
  • Evaluation:
    Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes; utilizes critical thinking skills; initiates interventions related to patient's change in condition and unexpected response to care.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Identifies ethical issues in the practice setting and brings them to the attention of other team members.
  • Recognizes and responds to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Must acquire and maintain competencies, certifications, and continuing education to meet facility accreditation or licensing requirements.
  • Adheres to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
  • Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
  • Adheres to HMH's Organizational and Managerial competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an associate degree in Nursing or nursing diploma. BSN in progress or willing to acquire within 3 years of hire. (

    Note:

    This applies to team members hired on or after November 2019).
    * P4567U - applies to team members hired after 6/1/2021.
    ** CC456U, CC689U, CC891U per CC Union Contract – All staff Registered Nurses (RN) are required to have a BSN within five years of hire.

    Note:

    Advanced masters in nursing programs satisfy the BSN requirement.
  • Must have six (6) or more months of relevant nursing experience or be an active participant in Hackensack Meridian Health's Nurse Residency Program.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, strong sense of accountability, teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and passion for high quality patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work at the assigned HMH location by date of hire.
  • BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire.
Compensation

Minimum rate of $45.73 per hour. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay is an estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.
