- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, initial consultations, and ongoing follow‑up visits for adult and geriatric residents.
- Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis, dementia‑related behaviors, adjustment disorders, insomnia, chronic mental illness, and other behavioral health conditions.
- Prescribe, monitor, and optimize psychotropic medication regimens while evaluating treatment effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Assess residents experiencing behavioral disturbances, cognitive decline, agitation, aggression, mood instability, confusion, and neuropsychiatric symptoms.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that address each resident’s psychiatric, cognitive, medical, emotional, and functional needs.
- Collaborate closely with attending physicians, medical directors, nursing leadership, rehabilitation teams, therapists, social workers, and facility administrators.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and contribute behavioral health recommendations that improve resident outcomes.
- Educate residents, family members, caregivers, and facility staff regarding diagnoses, medications, behavioral interventions, and treatment expectations.
- Assist facilities in reducing psychiatric crises, behavioral escalations, emergency department utilization, and unnecessary hospitalizations.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives supporting behavioral health excellence across assigned facilities.
- Active and unrestricted New Jersey Nurse Practitioner license.
- Strong psychiatric assessment, diagnostic, psychopharmacology, and treatment planning skills.
- Ability to independently manage a psychiatric patient panel while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Experience in psychiatry, behavioral health, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long‑term care, or geriatric medicine preferred.
- Experience treating dementia‑related behaviors, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, chronic psychiatric illness, and medically complex patients strongly preferred.
