As a
Manual QA Engineer
, you will be a key quality advocate within Smart State’s New Jersey product and engineering organization. You’ll focus on thoroughly testing web applications to ensure functionality, usability, and performance meet company standards and regulatory expectations. This role is ideal for a manual QA professional who wants deeper ownership over test strategy and execution in a fast-paced, hands‑on environment, with opportunities to improve processes, strengthen quality practices, and support successful product releases.
You’ll Do
- Perform manual testing of web applications to verify functionality, usability, and performance against business and technical requirements.
- Define the scope of testing for new features and releases, and develop structured, risk‑based testing approaches.
- Create, maintain, and execute test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and checklists.
- Log, track, and re‑test defects in a bug‑tracking system, providing clear reproduction steps, impact, and status updates.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues quickly.
- Participate in the review of specifications and designs, providing feedback from a QA and end‑user perspective.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of QA processes, standards, and best practices across the team.
- 5+ years of related work experience in software testing, with a strong focus on manual testing.
- Solid knowledge of testing processes, methodologies, and industry standards.
- Hands‑on experience testing web projects and user‑facing applications.
- Experience defining testing scope and developing structured testing approaches for new features and releases.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a systematic approach to problem‑solving.
- Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and verification.
- Proven experience creating and maintaining test documentation, including test plans and test cases.
- Knowledge of JIRA and/or similar bug‑tracking tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- Experience working in a fast‑growing or international technology environment.
- Exposure to iGaming, sports betting, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with basic test automation concepts or tools.

Salary range $115,000—$135,000 USD
