Job Summary
Nuveen is seeking an experienced Lead Development Manager to join our CLO Portfolio Management Technology team. You'll design, build, test, and support mission‑critical applications that directly serve portfolio managers, traders, and other investment professionals. The role demands Python‑based backend development, cloud‑native architecture, CI/CD practices, and a deep understanding of CLO structures, Bank Loans, or broader Fixed Income securities.
Key Responsibilities- Software Design and Development:
Lead the design, development, and delivery of full‑stack applications, primarily backend Python services and RESTful APIs deployed as AWS Lambda functions, containerized workloads, or EC2‑hosted services. - CI/CD and Dev Ops Ownership:
Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Cloud Bees, or similar tools; enforce branching strategies, code review workflows, release management, and infrastructure management with Terraform. - Stakeholder Engagement and Requirements Translation:
Engage with senior investment professionals to clarify requirements, surface constraints, and communicate technical trade‑offs in business‑relevant language. - Technical Leadership and Code Quality:
Serve as a technical anchor – conduct code reviews, establish development standards, mentor developers, and monitor work quality. - Agile Participation:
Act in sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives; maintain a well‑prioritized product backlog and provide accurate effort estimates. - Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture decisions, API specifications, data models, and runbooks. - AI‑Assisted Development:
Leverage tools such as Amazon Q, Git Hub Copilot, or Kiro to accelerate delivery and improve code quality, encouraging adoption across the team.
- 5+ years of hands‑on Python production development, including microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Cloud Bees, etc.) – pipeline configuration, build automation, deployment orchestration, and environment promotion.
- Docker and Terraform expertise required.
- 3+ years with Git Lab source control and code review, and Jira Agile project tracking.
- Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or comparable RDBMS). Strong SQL, stored procedures, and DDL/DML skills.
- Domain expertise in CLO structures, Bank Loans, or Fixed Income securities within an asset‑management or institutional finance context.
- Effective communication with senior investment professionals, translating technical concepts into business‑relevant language.
- Working knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC, Cloud Watch, KMS) and fundamentals of cloud networking and security.
- Physical requirement:

- Java as a secondary language is a plus.
- Apache Airflow on AWS experience.
- Experience with asset‑management technology, portfolio management systems, or related platforms.
- Front‑end development using React or Angular for full‑stack delivery.
- Additional AWS services such as ELB, EKS, Glacier, or other managed services relevant to scalable financial systems.
- Base Pay Range: $134,000 – $183,000 per year.
- Potential incentive programs linked to performance.
