Overview

The Arc of Greater Prince William/INSIGHT, Inc, a respected non-profit provider of residential, recreation, and day services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), is seeking a Lead Teacher at the Muriel Humphrey Child Care Center (MHCC).

The position is full-time, 40 hours/week with a regular schedule Monday - Friday 8:30 – 5:00 pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Pay rate is $16.50/hour.

General Description

Under the general supervision of the Morning or Afternoon Supervisor and accountable to the Program Director, and the Board of Directors, the Program Leader will be responsible for the direct supervision of the children at the Center, develop appropriate activities for the children’s ability level and ensure the safety and well-being of the children.

Responsibilities

Assists in the planning, development and implementation of one of the classrooms in the childcare center

Responsible for the safety and well-being of the children in the assigned classroom

Responsible for insuring licensing requirements are being met at all times

Works directly with the children in implementing the Center’s program

Serves as a role model for the children

Helps the children

Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

First Aid and CPR certification required,
we offer this paid training! Establish a good rapport with the children. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers. Staff shall be capable of communicating effectively both orally and in writing as applicable to the job responsibility. Staff is capable of effectively communicating with emergency personnel.

Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must have taken Infection Control training and/or retraining.

Must satisfactorily complete required annual training hours as specified by Licensing Standards.

Physical Qualifications

Free of Tuberculosis (TB) in communicable form

Physically able to lift up children to changing table or to lower children to changing mat on the floor.

Able to assist children with evacuation.

Able to move children in wheelchairs.

Able to communicate effectively with the children.
