Development Project Manager
Prince William County's Department of Development Services offers creative, challenging, and rewarding work as a Development Project Manager who can deliver results in a project-oriented culture and thrives on innovation and initiative.
Our building development project management program team is seeking a qualified and experienced professional with superior knowledge of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, Use Group, and Certificate of Occupancy requirements who can demonstrate a strong comprehension of applicable building regulations specific to business use purposes.
This position supports both commercial real estate development projects and small business owner-led projects, which require thorough knowledge of county policies and code specifications that can range from large data center building plans to small tenant lease space requirements.
Problem-solving is essential to the success of the program. We are looking for a motivated professional who will take the lead and can solve complex problems to assist customers through the regulatory process to ensure the business is safe to occupy while meeting scheduling deadlines.
A background in building construction project management and customer service experience is strongly preferred.

About This RolePerform project management duties
Facilitate a Multi-Disciplinary Team, Early Assistance, and Issue Resolution Meetings
Serve as the Project Management Branch Representative on Process Action Teams
Maintain accurate project records
Minimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma and 6 years of related experience (Development Project Manager, Plans Reviewer, Construction Inspector, and/or Code Enforcement Inspector)
PreferencesStrong leadership and organizational skills
Demonstrated experience managing processes, projects, and process improvement teams
Thorough knowledge of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC)
Demonstrated ability to apply building code exemptions and exceptions to projects
Experience as a Project Manager, Plans Reviewer, Construction/Code Enforcement Inspector
Work ScheduleThis position works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week.
This position offers the ability to telework 1-2 days per week after an initial probationary period.
This is a telework-eligible position that may revert to in-office scheduling if business needs change.
Special RequirementsMust become certified by the State of Virginia as a Technical Assistant to the Building Official within 18 months of employment, which includes the Virginia Certified Commercial Plans Reviewer.
Must complete a DMV background check as a condition of employment.
Starting Salary Range$76,069.50 - $
