This position serves as a curriculum support service to teachers, students, and staff by providing access to library materials and information resources and requires collaborative teaching.

- Reviews, evaluates, and selects resources in collaboration with other teachers.
- Processes, organizes, and classifies resources to ensure access to materials.
- Maintains an automated library management and information access program.
- Maintains a current, functional library collection through data analysis, inventory, weeding, updating, and replacement of resources.
- Provides information about copyright law and fair‑use practices.
- Shares responsibility for student learning and the achievement of school wide instructional goals.
- Applies knowledge of how children learn to create learning‑compatible environments.
- Models and promotes use of the Prince William County Public School Information Management Process: accessing, analyzing, evaluating, and using information to create knowledge.
- Facilitates learning through resource‑based instruction by providing access to and promoting the use of resources in all formats.
- Analyzes, promotes, and coordinates access to resources outside of the school library.
- Analyzes and correlates the content of resources to the curriculum.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates instruction in collaboration with teachers.
- Participates in curriculum development and planning at the building and Division level.
- Commonwealth of Virginia certification for school librarian.
- Bachelor’s Degree is the minimum education requirement.
- Eligibility for an endorsement in Library Media pre‑K‑12.
- Minimum of 1 year of related instructional experience.
Work is performed indoors in a standard office, classroom, or indoor environment. Essential functions are performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Employees may be exposed to minor inconveniences such as occasional noise, exposure to computer screens, crowded working conditions, and/or minor heating, cooling or ventilation problems.
