Woodbridge School District is accepting applications for a Teacher Academy Teacher s is a full-time, 10-month, benefit-eligible teaching position.
Job SummaryThe Middle School Teacher Academy teacher is responsible for developing and delivering an engaging instructional program that introduces middle school students to the teaching profession and careers in education. The program is designed to foster student interest in education through career exploration, leadership development, foundational teaching concepts, and experiential learning opportunities. Students develop communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills while gaining an understanding of child development, learning, and the role of educators in schools and communities.
In collaboration with school and district staff, the Middle School Teacher Academy teacher supports the development of a cohesive educator pipeline by preparing students for successful transition into the district's high school Teacher Academy program and other "Grow Your Own" educator initiatives. The teacher works closely with district leaders, school administrators, and community partners to promote awareness of careers in education and create meaningful learning experiences that inspire future educators.
The position requires strong instructional expertise, creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to cultivating the next generation of educators by building student interest, confidence, and leadership at an early age.
Must hold or be eligible for teaching certification in elementary or secondary education in the State of Delaware. Minimum of four (4) years of highly effective classroom teaching experience. Demonstrated record of high-quality instruction as evidenced through classroom observations, educator evaluations, student achievement and growth, or other measures of instructional effectiveness. Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering engaging, student-centered instruction that promotes high levels of learning and achievement.
Evidence of strong classroom management and the ability to establish a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners. Knowledge of current instructional best practices, learning theory, assessment practices, and differentiated instruction. Strong written, verbal, presentation, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor middle and/or high school students interested in pursuing careers in education.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth, innovation, and educational excellence. Familiarity with Career and Technical Education (CTE) education pathways, career exploration, and work-based learning preferred. Understanding of educator workforce development initiatives, including "Grow Your Own" educator pathways, teacher residency, and educator recruitment efforts preferred. Experience serving in teacher leadership roles such as mentoring, instructional coaching, curriculum development, and/or professional learning facilitation preferred.
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned curriculum that introduces students to careers in education and the teaching profession. Develop and implement lessons focused on foundational teaching concepts, child development, learning styles, classroom culture, communication, leadership, and educational careers. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Integrate real-world applications and current trends in education into daily instruction. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based, inquiry-based, and experiential learning.
