Position: Preschool Team Lead #26-0201

Reports to: Program Manager / Center Supervisor

Worksite: Early Childhood

LLBO Status: Non-exempt

Safety Sensitive: Yes

License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN driver’s license is required. CPR and First Aid certification or attain within introductory period.

Summary: R esponsible for ensuring that the classrooms contribute to the growth and development of each child. Guides the planning and implementation of a comprehensive child development program that meets or exceeds the Head Start Performance Standards. Responsible for the day to day operations of the ECD Classrooms in assigned center.

Education Requirements and

Experience:

Possess a minimum of an AA or BA degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Supervisory experience within the past two years is preferred.

Experience working with pre-school children is preferred.

Additional

Qualifications and Skills:

Excellent attendance and punctuality is a must, maintaining a monthly average of 90% or greater, including tardiness.

Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills.

Must possess an understanding and sensitivity to the culturally specific needs of Native American children and their families.

Must possess word processing and computer skills.

Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.

Able to manage time & resources well and to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Must be willing to submit to pre-employment and random drug testing.

Native American Preference.

An initial physical exam is required and every 2 years thereafter and Mantoux (TB) upon hire and every 5 years thereafter

Must meet the Leech Lake Licensing Standards.

Ability to travel in and out of the state.

Attend all mandated trainings required by Head Start Performance Standards.

Leech Lake Center Based Licensing training requirements completed annually.

A professional development plan is required as well as meets all the annual mandated training/safety requirements.

Possess an understanding of the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework:
Ages Birth to Five and child development for children 0-5yrs.

Supervisory Duties:

Supervision of classroom staff in HS/EHS to ensure compliance with:
Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Personnel Policies, Head Start Performance Standards, Leech Lake ECD Goals and Objectives, Leech Lake Early Childhood Policies and Procedures, and Leech Lake Child Care Licensing requirements.

Issue progressive disciplinary action when warranted.

Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment in the classroom for children, staff, and families.

Provide role modeling, support & mentor teaching team towards quality programming, including CLASS Dimensions.

Ensure all classroom staff maintains an 85% or greater avg. monthly attendance.

Responsible for ensuring assigned staff utilizes the electronic timekeeping system.

Responsible for the approval of work hours, necessary adjustments and documenting reasons for adjustments in the electronic timekeeping system for all assigned staff.

Conduct weekly staff meetings-keeping communication open and giving positive feedback as needed.

Supervision of the classroom environment, including teacher/child ratios are met.

If assigned to an outlying center, the Team Leader maybe required to supervise Head Start and Early Head Start staff and be responsible for the Early Childhood facility and all daily operations.

An outlying center Team Leader will report any health & safety issues and any building issues to the appropriate content area manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Administrative:

Work with management and program staff in the implementation of policies and operating procedures based on regulations and guidelines.

Make and document recommendations regarding personnel issues in a timely manner and notify Education Program Manager to staff attendance/absenteeism concerns.

Engage in ongoing program assessment & monitoring to ensure quality services are being provided.

Prepare weekly online lesson plans, material needs, monthly newsletters, & calendars.

Ensure that all information and reports are thoroughly recorded and submitted in a timely manner (field trips, nutrition request, TSG data entry, etc.).

Complete student records and reports accurately, reports include: running logs, observations TSG (individual student progress information) data entry, incident/accident forms etc.

Classroom:

Ensure classroom environment is sanitary, organized and inviting.
