Electrical EIT/Coordinator - Energy Storage (193893)
Primary Responsibilities- Support grid‑scale generation and microgrid projects by developing conceptual layouts and one‑line diagrams and advancing detailed design through the completion of Issue For Construction design packages.
- Focus on energy storage projects with opportunities in solar, wind, thermal generation, power delivery, and zero‑emission mobility.
- Conduct analyses to develop electrical design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of project deliveries (e.g., engineering drawing packages, cost estimates, and project specifications).
- Coordinate closely with civil, structural, fire & life safety (F&LS), high‑voltage electrical, SCADA/telecommunications, water, and geotechnical engineers to develop complete Issue For Construction design packages.
- Provide technical support and assistance to HDR’s team and clients.
- Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
- Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
- Work independently on small projects, or assist more senior engineers/professionals on larger projects.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers, other Engineers In‑Training (EITs), Designers or BIM Specialists as needed.
- Experience with grid‑scale renewable energy (solar and wind generation) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
- Experience with distributed energy resource (microgrids) projects.
- Experience participating in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors to support business development and project execution.
- Experience evaluating and analyzing different technologies, products, and vendors and supporting clients with technology and vendor selection and implementation.
- Experience supporting the development of and updates to internal design guidelines, catalogs, and templates for power generation projects.
- Willingness to grow into a mentor, senior engineer role, and beyond.
- Knowledge of three‑phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, and physical design.
- Knowledge of electrical studies such as ampacity, short‑circuit, load flow, grounding, harmonics, and lighting.
- Local candidates preferred.
- EIT or ability to obtain it; candidates hired without their EIT will be titled "Electrical Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
