Production Operations Specialist
Location:
Charlotte, North Carolina
The Production Operations Specialist serves as the first point of contact for users related to service requests or failures and maintains the stability of a portfolio of applications. This role collaborates closely with users and technology teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues, following well‑defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and proposing improvements to monitoring, alerting, and configuration.
Responsibilities- Monitor application components and related infrastructure; respond to alerts for potential production incidents.
- Perform initial investigations, mitigate impacts through established routines, and participate in triages.
- Interpret dashboards, tools, and reports to proactively identify and address potential issues before they affect production.
- Execute environment routing, cycling, and splash page implementation.
- Administer user s provisioning and deprovisioning for applications.
- Generate status updates and technical details for communications with technical partners.
- Collaborate with change and release teams to support implementations and identify change‑related risks.
- Track incidents and requests in the defined system; execute procedures reliably and expedite resolution.
- Maintain and update operational procedures and documentation to meet audit requirements.
- Provide 24/7 first‑point‑of‑contact support for users, monitoring, and incident response.
- Minimum 2 years of experience troubleshooting Web Sphere on Linux and network-related issues.
- Unix background with experience supporting Java applications on a Web Sphere platform.
- Demonstrated leadership, ownership, and record of excellent workmanship.
- Proactive team member who leads, implements, and documents process improvements and automation.
- Self‑starter capable of multitasking and prioritizing workload.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with business and teammates.
- Flexible availability for on‑call rotational support, including off‑hours and weekends.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience in UNIX application environments such as Web Sphere, JBOSS, etc.
- Understanding of web application architecture.
- Ability to troubleshoot and analyze issues with failed deployments.
- Database experience – comfortable using and understanding SQL.
