Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Special Care Nursery

Job Overview

M Health Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Special Care Nursery Unit at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN. This position is 0.75 FTE (60 hours per two weeks) on the overnight shift (7:00 pm‑7:30 am), 12‑hour shifts, with an every‑third‑weekend rotation and a holiday rotation. It is a variable schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates commitment to the patient care model and the Woodwinds nursing vision and strategy.
  • Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to coordinate outcome‑focused patient care while incorporating holistic nursing theory based on Watson’s Theory of Caring.
  • Communicates effectively with patients/families, physicians, the interdependent team, and other disciplines regarding the plan of care.
  • Assesses and documents patients’ and families’ learning needs; develops an individualized education plan.
  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements at the point of care to achieve clinical quality, customer experience, nursing engagement, and efficiency and effectiveness outcomes.
  • Complies with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, board of nursing requirements, patient safety requirements, infection control practices, and other established practice standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Coordinates the interdependent team while promoting collaborative teamwork and cooperation.
  • Actively participates in the development and achievement of department goals (safety, cost, quality, patient experience, employee engagement).
  • Maintains knowledge of and complies with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assumes other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Nursing.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid RN licensure from the MN Board of Nursing.
  • National Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six months of hire.
  • Twenty hours of documented breastfeeding education obtained within six months of hire.
  • Completion of postpartum and med‑surg training within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • One year of hospital experience, preferably in OB/NICU.
