Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Woodwind’s Hospital in Woodbury, MN. This position is 0.7 FTE (56 hours per two weeks), 8-hour shifts on the Evening shift with an every other weekend rotation.

Woodwinds Health Campus opened its 86-bed hospital in August 2000. Located on 30 acres of wetlands in Woodbury, MN, it is the only hospital in the southeast metro area. Woodwinds provides comprehensive health care for the community with a calm environment and attentive patient care.

About this Unit:

• 18 bed Telemetry and ICU
• Patients 18 years old and up
• Average length of stay 3-4 days
• Patient population: vents, codes, vent failures, septic conditions, shock, and unstable post-surgical patients

The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of patient care, transporting patients and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and reordering and stocking supplies. The Nursing Assistant works under the direction of a professional nurse and may be assigned patient care tasks based on unit needs and manager/charge nurse discretion.

• Provide basic patient care by performing routine duties in partnership with the patient care giver
• Assist with personal grooming, bathing, toileting
• Assist with feeding, skin care (including dressing changes), and applying ointments/creams
• Assist with oral hygiene, specimen collection/testing, positioning/ambulating
• Change linens and promptly answers call lights
• Assist nurse in monitoring patient condition
• Accurately record weights, intake/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation
• Place patient on/off monitors and equipment as needed
• Report unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Orient patient/family to the environment
• Ensure patient belongings are accounted for and documented at admission, transfer, and discharge

License/Certification/Registration

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. OnTrack participants must obtain BLS for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.

And one of the following:

• Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting (roles may include Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician)

OR

• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with completion of one semester of clinical rotation

OR

• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire (not required to be maintained for transfer to other Nursing Assistant roles; exception: MHealth Fairview West Bank Nursing Assistants)

Note:

Individuals who have completed a Nursing Assistant program and are scheduled to take the NA Registry exam will have 90 days post hire to become active on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. (Exception: M Health Fairview West Bank Nursing Assistants must be on the Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire)
