Software Development Lead

Description

Leidos is seeking a Software Development Lead to join a dynamic team in Eagan, MN, working on the development and maintenance of software that improves aircraft runway and terminal congestion. The role focuses on the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) system, a surface management solution that enhances air traffic operations across the National Airspace System.

• Surface Collaborative Decision Making (SCDM), departure scheduler and other airport decision tools
• Electronic Flight Data (EFD)
• Enhanced Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS)
• Replacement or integration of multiple systems in the National Airspace System (NAS)
• Sharing data among controllers, aircraft operators, and airports to better stage arrivals and departures and manage traffic flow within terminal airspace for greater efficiency
• Providing stakeholders with a shared real‑time picture of traffic volume and airport resources, from gate to gate

• Maintain the FAA air traffic control display software within an object‑oriented environment (primarily C++/Java) on a UNIX/Linux platform
• Perform software development as needed for the TFDM system
• Provide support for system engineering tasks
• Develop the design for the user interface framework, including client and server‑side components
• Work in an Agile Scrum environment
• Be eligible for a government security investigation and maintain clearance required for classified information access

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
• Experience in object‑oriented design and development in C++ and Java
• Experience following a documented Software Development Process
• Experience using version control tools such as Git, Subversion, or CVS
• Experience with UNIX and Linux operating systems

• Experience developing graphical user interfaces using Qt
• Experience with Ansible, shell scripting, and Python
• Development experience in additional languages (C, Ada, Perl, etc.)
• Familiarity with the Atlassian Tool Suite and JIRA
• FAA air traffic domain knowledge
• Willingness to travel to customer sites
