About the CompanyClient is looking in the financial services sector is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Accounting to lead its financial operations. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting a dynamic environment with significant growth ahead.
Position SummaryThe Director of Accounting will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, accounting operations, and treasury management. This individual will work closely with the CFO and executive leadership team, providing financial insights, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations. The role also includes managing key external relationships and developing a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger management, month‑end close, and year‑end close.
- Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Direct budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic financial planning.
- Manage treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity forecasting, and financial institution relationships.
- Build, mentor, and scale a high‑performing finance and accounting team.
- Serve as a key advisor to the CFO and collaborate with executive leadership on financial strategy and performance.
- Manage external relationships with auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
- Enhance and maintain ERP systems and financial reporting tools for scalability and accuracy.
- Present financial insights and performance updates to senior leadership and the Board.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – required.
- Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in public and/or private accounting or finance.
- Experience in financial services or lending preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and scale finance and accounting teams.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting platforms.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to commute to the Woodbridge, NJ office 3 days per week.
