Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist III – Float represents the face of the company to patients visiting our locations as part of their health routine or for important health decisions. This role is responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established procedures and best practices.
The Phlebotomist III – Float maintains direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and performing blood draws in a safe, accurate, and skillful manner. This position provides coverage across multiple locations and roles, ensuring all daily activities are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities:Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections (pediatric, geriatric, and adult patients).
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to established procedures.
Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of patient information.
Provide coverage at multiple sites, including:
Patient Service Centers (PSC)
In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP)
Mobile phlebotomy
Long-term care facilities
House call environments
Lead daily site activities when assigned.
Step in as needed to support or lead Patient Service Representatives (PSRs).
Serve as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource advisor for new employees.
Provide onboarding support to new clients.
Act as point of contact for on-site staff and provide feedback to the Group Lead or Supervisor.
Support high-complexity or high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy expertise.
Collaborate with internal departments such as:
Sales
Laboratory Testing Services
IT Connectivity
Billing
Logistics
Manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume environment.
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (preferred)
Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience (including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections)
Minimum 3 years in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) environment (preferred)
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (preferred)
Keyboard and data entry experience
