The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Prosecutor to join our team. This position is ideal for any attorney interested in public service and trial work. As an Assistant Prosecutor, you will represent the State in criminal proceedings, working closely with law enforcement, victims, and the court to pursue justice with integrity and fairness.

• Review and evaluate police reports, witness statements, and evidence to determine appropriate charges
• Prepare and prosecute felony cases in court
• Conduct grand jury proceedings
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and respond to defense filings
• Represent the State in arraignments, pre-trial hearings, plea negotiations, trials, and sentencing
• Communicate with victims, law enforcement officers, and witnesses to ensure effective case preparation
• Maintain accurate case files and documentation in compliance with office policies and procedures
• Participate in training and professional development programs

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to ethical prosecution and public service
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Appointee will be required to possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position
  • Appointee must reside in NJ (or move into NJ with 1 year of appointment) per the New Jersey First Act (NJSA 52:14-7)
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior internship, clinical experience, clerkship, or active practice in a prosecutor’s office or criminal law setting
  • Familiarity with courtroom procedures and rules of evidence
