Summary

The instructor is responsible for delivering quality classroom instruction, evaluating and resolving student questions, and ensuring students achieve competency in course objectives. The role requires motivating, fair, impartial, innovative, dedicated, and professional conduct in compliance with policy, procedures, and legal requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver quality classroom instruction in lecture, clinical, or laboratory format based on the approved course outline using a variety of approved materials and teaching methods.
  • Assess student learning using appropriate methods and demonstrate strong outcomes in student retention, success, and attendance.
  • Conduct engaging classroom lectures and/or labs, motivating students and encouraging active participation in discussions and activities.
  • Advise students on attendance, grades, and issues to ensure successful completion of their course.
  • Contact absentee students by text, email, or phone to improve retention.
  • Manage classroom environment in compliance with campus policies, including attendance, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Prepare classroom materials and equipment before each session, including information on the whiteboard: instructor name, contact, date, class name, day’s objectives, and next session objectives.
  • Participate in faculty, staff, committee, and in‑service meetings and attend commencement events.
  • Engage in continuous professional development (membership in educational associations, continuing education, related business experience, research, and current practices).
  • Support other departments (Financial Aid, Admissions, Career Services) and maintain all educational activity in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Work within the Faculty Development Program or other criteria such as success rate, retention rate, attendance rate, student evaluations, and final exam pass rates.
  • Maintain employer relationships with at least annual contacts, one site visit and others by phone or conversation.
  • Demonstrate professional writing when appropriate to show growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent written and oral communication, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team.

Minimum Qualifications

At least a high school diploma or equivalent. Sterile Processing Technician courses require a degree, diploma, or certificate from an accredited post‑secondary institution plus either two years of documented experience in the subject taught or three years of significant job‑related experience for those without specific education in the field. Prior teaching experience is preferred.

Working / Physical Demands

May require working late nights or weekends. Employees frequently stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and must have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate phones, computer keyboards, and other office equipment. Regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
