Mechanical Technician – Great lakes Area – Northeast Division
Overview
The Marathon Pipe Line Great Lakes Area operates and maintains more than 700 miles of liquids pipeline, two tank farms, multiple pipeline stations and a light product terminal. This position is for a Mechanical Technician located in Woodhaven, MI that will support the MPL Great Lakes Area. This position works in and around petroleum products and crude oil facilities executing mechanical maintenance and reliability duties at multiple area facilities in support of 24/7/365 pipeline operations.
The position also provides field support to various other Marathon Pipe Line LLC processes and departments.
The successful candidate will perform various duties including: repairing and maintaining valves, pumps, tank equipment, strainers, meters, provers, and truck rack loading equipment in accordance with all regulations. The successful candidate should have a strong background in basic electrical and mechanical equipment, the ability to troubleshoot problems, work independently as well as in a team environment, and be a self-starter. All duties will be completed in accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory compliance.
Travel, call-outs and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis.
The successful candidate will be required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location in Woodhaven, MI.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance, coordinate and communicate maintenance activities.
- Respond to and resolve station alarms and communicate findings to appropriate parties.
- Generate computerized work requests for maintenance tasks; coordinate and communicate maintenance activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associate’s degree in a related technical field is preferred.
- Previous pipeline or petroleum industry experience with emphasis on mechanical/electrical is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must be able to pass a general background check as well as a Motor Vehicle Background check.
