The Distribution Lead owns the operational performance, scalability, and continuous improvement of the Seattle HUB and plays a critical role in launching additional HUBs. This role is responsible for building a high-performing distribution operation that supports business growth through service excellence, cost efficiency, inventory optimization, and operational discipline.
This individual will establish best practices, define and manage KPIs, lead operational execution, and partner cross-functionally to ensure reliable inbound and outbound material flow. The Distribution Lead will serve as a hands-on leader with strong systems thinking, capable of operating at both strategic and tactical levels.
This role also serves as the functional leader for hub and market (“spoke”) warehouse operations through a matrixed reporting structure, ensuring consistent operating standards, talent development, and resource optimization across the network.
Operational Leadership
- Own end-to-end warehouse management and distribution operations for the Seattle HUB, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and returns.
- Ensure consistent execution against service level agreements (SLAs), safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Lead daily operational planning, labor deployment, and workload balancing to meet throughput and service targets.
- Drive a culture of accountability, safety, continuous improvement, and performance excellence.
- Serve as the primary functional leader for warehouse operations across HUB and local market, defining “how” warehouses operate while enabling branch managers to focus on “what” they deliver for customers.
- Build succession pipelines and career pathways across the warehouse network to develop future leaders and operational bench strength.
- Act as the single point of accountability for balancing work, staffing, and resources across HUB and market locations.
Network Expansion & Scalability
- Lead the operational design, startup, and stabilization of new HUB locations.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), training programs, and operating models that enable rapid, repeatable scale.
- Partner with Finance, IT, and Procurement to support site selection, capacity planning, and systems deployment.
Inventory & Flow Optimization
- Own on-site inventory strategy and execution, including replenishment policies, safety stock, slotting, and cycle counting.
- Monitor and optimize inventory turns, aging, shrink, and space utilization.
- Partner with Procurement and Planning to balance service levels, working capital, and demand variability.
Performance Management & Analytics
- Establish, track, and continuously improve KPIs across safety, service, cost, quality, and productivity.
- Develop dashboards and operating cadences to review performance and drive corrective action.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action for service failures, variances, and disruptions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Procurement, Transportation, Customer Service, Finance, and Sales to align execution with business priorities.
- Own execution of transportation and shipping operations, including carrier and supplier relationships, appointment scheduling, dock coordination, and shipment execution.
- Collaborate with Procurement (selects carriers) and Inventory (determines what ships and when) while ensuring warehouse-level accountability for execution.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) through operational readiness, inventory setup, and execution planning.
- Act as a key operational stakeholder in S&OP / IBP processes.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing operations team.
