Senior Manager, Accounting and Finance

Maxell Corporation of America is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance to join our Accounting Team in Woodland Park, NJ. This role will play a critical role in managing the financial close process, overseeing daily accounting operations, and supporting financial reporting to senior management and our Japan-based parent company. This position is based on-site in our Woodland Park, NJ office.

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial close process, ensuring all costs are accurately recorded.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and maintain the general ledger.
• Partner closely with the Vice President, Accounting & Finance to prepare financial reports, forecasts, and analyses for Senior Management and the Japan-based parent company.
• Respond to inquiries and reporting requests from the parent company.
• Supervise and support the day‑to‑day operations of the Accounting Team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Ensure departmental deadlines and compliance requirements are consistently met.
• Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations for accounting staff.
• Generate financial and business reports for management review.
• Prepare and process sales tax reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist with annual budget preparation and forecasting activities.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations and reporting.
• Serve as a primary liaison with internal and external auditors.
• Participate in special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory experience a must.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial close processes, and financial reporting.
• Experience working with Japan-based parent companies. Bilingual proficiency in Japanese a plus.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing accounting staff.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, Word & Power Point. Microsoft D365, Power BI and Report Designer experience a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Salary Range: 100k - 120K depending on experience.
