Location:
Woodland Community College, Woodland, CA
Woodland Community College is located in Yolo County, near Sacramento. The college serves a rural service area and offers a strong quality of life with proximity to the Sierra Nevada and Bay Area. We seek a strong, well‑rounded organic chemistry educator who can provide leadership in curriculum development, keep course offerings up‑to‑date, stay current with STEM trends, collaborate with high schools, and contribute to chemistry lab oversight.
EssentialDuties
- Organize and teach lecture and lab courses in organic chemistry, general chemistry, and introductory chemistry.
- Deliver instruction according to course descriptions, outlines, schedules, and governing board policies.
- Evaluate student progress, develop and assess learning outcomes, and perform other instructional duties as assigned.
- Maintain knowledge of safety protocols for chemistry labs and instruction.
- Teach in online, hybrid, and point‑to‑point interactive modalities, as well as evening, weekend, distance education, and off‑campus instruction if required.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Possess a master’s degree in chemistry OR
- Bachelor’s in chemistry or biochemistry AND master’s in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry OR
- Equivalency determination from the District confirming the above.
- Strong background in organic chemistry.
- Experience teaching chemistry to community college students in an equity‑minded and inclusive manner.
- Experience collaborating with science colleagues to develop STEM programs and college initiatives.
- Experience with educational grants that improve or innovate science instruction.
- Excellent collaboration skills working with department faculty, academic support programs, student services, and local or regional employers.
