Position Information

Job Title: Adjunct General Business

Location: Woodland Community College - Woodland, CA

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Division Dean, provide instruction in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policies; evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters, develop and assess student learning outcomes, and perform other instructional duties as assigned. Provide a welcome and inclusive environment with diverse students can succeed.

• Organize and instruct classes in General Business possibly including but not limited to:
  Introduction to Business, Principles of Management, Human Resource Management, Business Communications, Organizational Behavior, Business Mathematics
• Provide effective classroom and laboratory instruction using methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter
• Promote and model professionalism as an educator and business professional; maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
• Comply with all institutional policies and procedures
• Facilitate student learning by using appropriate teaching methods
• Maintain currency and depth of knowledge in assigned area of responsibility
• Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses
• Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester
• Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired.

Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

• Master’s in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business education OR
• Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, or JD or LL.B degree OR
• Bachelor’s in economics with a business emphasis AND Master’s in personnel management, public administration, or JD or LL.B degree
• The equivalent OR
• Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of Business.

• Bilingual Spanish/English
• Competency in all areas of applied business technology courses normally taught in a community college or in the first two years of a university
• Flexible in the acceptance of new and changing teaching assignments.
• Ability to adjust teaching skills to meet varying needs of the community and changing student interests and to organize and implement programs to meet these needs.

Range/Step:
Step 1 - Step 7 (Based on degree and teaching experience)
