Associate​/Senior Civil Engineer

The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of Associate Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer in the Integrated Waste Division at the Department of Community Services.

• Classification:
  Associate Civil Engineer – salary range $ - $ annually.
• Classification:
  Senior Civil Engineer – salary range $ - $ annually.
• Position may be hired as either Associate or Senior depending on experience.

• Associate Civil Engineer – Under direction, performs professional engineering work supporting the operation and improvement of the Yolo County Landfill, including infrastructure systems such as drainage, roadways, and environmental controls, while ensuring regulatory compliance. Focuses on preparing plans, specifications, estimates, reports; assisting with construction oversight and contract administration; and coordinating with staff, consultants, and regulatory agencies to support capital projects and day‑to‑day operations.
• Senior Civil Engineer – Under general direction, leads and manages engineering projects and programs for the Yolo County Landfill, overseeing planning, design, and delivery of complex infrastructure and capital improvement projects while ensuring regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include managing consultants, reviewing and approving engineering work, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and providing direction to staff to support safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible landfill operations.

Skilled civil engineering professional with experience in solid waste, environmental, or public infrastructure engineering. Demonstrates strong understanding of engineering principles and regulatory requirements and experience supporting or managing projects in a regulated environment. Collaborative, effective communicator, strong organizational and project coordination skills, able to manage multiple priorities, contribute to technical problem solving, and support project delivery. Committed to public service and environmental stewardship.

• Education: B.S. degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a registered civil engineer.
• Certificate: Valid registration as civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.
• Driver's License: Valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher.

• Certificate: Valid registration as civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.
