Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Network Engineer for our client, a global leader in seed breeding and production.
This is a 6-month contract to hire opportunity, onsite in Woodland, CA.
The Network Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining our enterprise network, servers, operating systems, and communication infrastructure across all regional locations. You must be a self-motivated problem solver with a passion for establishing and maintaining a stable network infrastructure.
The Network Engineer must ensure the security, integrity, and high availability of core systems and infrastructure. This includes developing, managing, and maintaining the network infrastructure to support the business operations. Key components such as software, hardware, cybersecurity tools, and data storage systems are essential to preserving seamless and secure connectivity across the enterprise.

- Manage, monitor, maintain, and optimize the organization's enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
- Design, configure, troubleshoot, and support network technologies including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and routing.
- Lead network infrastructure projects from planning through implementation with minimal supervision.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network, server, and connectivity issues while minimizing business disruption.
- Implement and maintain network security best practices, proactively identify vulnerabilities, and support cybersecurity initiatives in partnership with IT Leadership.
- Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, Microsoft 365, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of servers, network equipment, endpoints, mobile devices, and other IT hardware.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, inventories, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
- Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes to ensure system resilience.
- Collaborate with IT team members to resolve escalated technical issues and support enterprise-wide technology initiatives.
- Monitor system performance, anticipate potential issues, and recommend infrastructure improvements to increase reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements, including SOX controls where applicable.
- Provide exceptional technical support and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours or weekend support as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in network administration or a similar role with enterprise environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Microsoft Certificated Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Preferred
- Industry Recognized Networking Certification (e.g. CCNA or equivalent) - Required
- Strong grasp of managing network and endpoint protection solutions, and other security best practices to safeguard data and system integrity.
