Pepper Machine Harvest Intern

Advance hot and sweet pepper harvest innovations by identifying and solving critical steps to improve the marketable yield for mechanically harvested varieties; leverage advanced technologies and cross-functional collaboration to implement solutions in several pepper product pipelines.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Bayer Crop Science has an opportunity for an exceptional graduate student to join a research team on site in Woodland, California, for a 3.5-month internship. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with scientists and phenotyping specialists to support the continued development of a machine harvesting process for peppers. The intern will spend significant time working in a field environment.

  • Design data collection protocols and execute field experiments with attention to detail;

  • Coordinate technical work plans and timelines across functional teams;

  • Collect, document, and analyze experimental data;

  • Synthesize findings to inform next steps;

  • Communicate results and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences;

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and complete required training sessions.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:
  • Current M.S. or PhD student in one of the following areas:
    Plant Breeding, Agronomy, Plant Genetics, or Plant Science;

  • Experience conducting field trials, developing protocols, and managing projects independently;

  • Well-versed in experimental design, quantitative genetics, and data analysis (QA/QC, summary statistics, trait relationships);

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams.

Degree Program:
PhD and discipline in Plant Breeding, Agronomy, or Plant Genetics
