The City of Woodland is strategically located in California’s Sacramento Valley, one of the world’s richest agricultural areas. The City has a population of over 60,000 while maintaining its small town appeal, and is the County seat of Yolo County. Woodland is approximately 85 miles northeast of San Francisco and 24 miles northwest of Sacramento, the State Capitol. The City is ideally positioned along Interstate 5 and is also serviced by the Sacramento International Airport, 12 miles to the east.

Known as the “City of Trees”, Woodland has 176 acres of parks with a wide variety of athletic fields, which host a myriad of year-round sports activities for youth and adults. The surrounding area offers water skiing and boating on Sacramento River, Lake Berryessa, and Folsom Lake. Winters can be enjoyed skiing at the many fine resorts in the Lake Tahoe area.

POSITION
To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.
The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Public Works Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate will be able to troubleshoot a wide variety of building systems and think outside the box to find solutions that get the problem fixed right the first time. The candidate must be customer-friendly and be a solutions-oriented professional who is flexible in dealing with shifting priorities. Successful candidate will also be able to respond to after-hours emergencies on short notice and demonstrate the ability to work independently.

Project management, plumbing, and HVAC skills are highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain and repair City facilities, equipment, and building by performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and mechanical repair work. Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance and custodial needs; research and recommend effective solutions to maintenance and repair needs of the City. Inspect, determine, and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned facilities and equipment.

Assign routine and special tasks to subordinates; coordinates the work of contractors and other assigned staff with other City employees and contractors. Work cooperatively with others. Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Operate a variety of equipment including power saws, power sanders, drills, paint sprayers, plumbing snakes and rodders, routers and grinders. Operate, maintain and repair a variety of mechanical equipment such as generators, engines and sump pumps. Determine quantity and types of supplies,…
