Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist to support the management and governance of enterprise software assets. This role plays a critical part in ensuring software license compliance, cost efficiency, and audit readiness across the organization. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience with Service Now SAM Pro, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively across IT, Finance, Procurement, and Risk Management teams.

Education &
Experience: Master’s + 5 years | Bachelor’s + 7 years | 13 years in lieu of degree
- Provide assistance in managing the full end‑to‑end Software Asset Management (SAM) lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, utilization tracking, and retirement of enterprise software assets.
- Utilize Service Now SAM Pro to track software installations, monitor license compliance, manage entitlements, and optimize software usage across the enterprise.
- Track software entitlements, monitor license usage, and conduct internal audits to ensure ongoing compliance and cost efficiency.
- Perform in‑depth data analysis within Service Now to provide clear visibility into software usage trends and compliance status.
- Compile and analyze financial, contractual, and inventory data to support enterprise IT asset lifecycle management and decision‑making.
- Recommend and help enforce SAM policies and standard operating procedures to ensure software compliance and mitigate audit risk.
- Respond to internal and external audit requests; investigate licensing discrepancies and drive resolution of compliance issues.
- Support onboarding of new enterprise software titles into Service Now SAM Pro, including requirements gathering, stakeholder interviews, and technical/business documentation.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain data on software usage, versioning, contract end dates, and license terms to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date asset tracking.
- Identify redundant or overlapping software titles through data consolidation efforts; provide summaries and actionable recommendations to the integration team.
- Assist in developing strategies for software consolidation, licensing compliance improvement, and enterprise cost reduction initiatives.
- Analyze business processes, data flows, and operational reporting to surface improvement opportunities within the SAM program.
- Support system testing, defect resolution, and platform enhancements within the Service Now SAM environment.
- Develop and maintain documentation, reports, and process improvement artifacts to support program maturity and knowledge transfer.
- ITIL Foundation or higher certification.
- Governance, audit, or risk management certifications (e.g., CGEIT, CRISC, ISO 19770).
- Experience with SAM automation workflows and Service Now platform integrations.
- Background in software consolidation analysis and license optimization strategy.
- SAM Lifecycle Management — end‑to‑end asset tracking from procurement through retirement.
- Service Now SAM/HAM Pro — proficient platform use for compliance tracking and operational reporting.
- License Compliance & Audit Support — proactive entitlement reconciliation and discrepancy resolution.
- Data Analysis & Reporting — ability to translate raw asset data into actionable insights and executive‑level summaries.
- Process Documentation — developing clear, maintainable SOPs, reports, and governance artifacts.
- Stakeholder Collaboration — effective cross‑functional communication with IT, Finance, Security, and Procurement teams.

implementations. - Solid knowledge of enterprise software licensing models, contract management, and asset lifecycle processes.
- Familiarity with asset data normalization, catalog management, work spaces, and compliance dashboards in Service Now.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail in data management and reporting.
- Experience building and maturing enterprise IT Asset governance programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong problem‑solving ability with the capacity to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and enterprise reporting tools.
- Self‑starter with a proactive, detail‑oriented work ethic; ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Willingness to work on‑site in Woodlawn, MD five days per week.
