Summary
IT Specialist (Network) Cloud/Infrastructure Engineer position(s) are being filled through the Office of Personnel Management's delegated Direct Hire Authority, open to all U.S. citizens. Selections made under this bulletin will be processed as new appointments to the civil service. Current civil service employees would, therefore, be given new appointments to the civil service. Under the provisions of the Direct Hire Authority, Veterans Preference and the "Rule of Many" do not apply.

GS-14 Base Salary (See additional information for location-based ranges).
Salary for Durham, NC: $131,342 – $170,750 per year.
Salary for Woodlawn, MD: $143,913 – $187,093 per year.
Work schedule:
Full‑time.
Travel Required:
No. Employees required to be on‑site 75% of duty time. Telework eligible:
Yes (as determined by agency policy). Remotely working is not a job option. Office hours: 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Serve as the Agency's technical authority and expert in installation, customization, and problem determination of network technologies.
- Work with senior technical and managerial representatives on system-wide directives, standards, specifications, policies, implementation strategies, and operational guidelines.
- Serve as the senior technical expert on task forces responsible for new technology installations and upgrades.
- Lead investigations of network problems related to communications software, employing sophisticated problem‑analysis and diagnostic techniques. Manage vendor interactions when appropriate.
- Conduct technical presentations at conferences and advise Agency management, other government agencies, and external audiences.
- Provide leadership in formulating and implementing internet/intranet policies, objectives, and plans to support the SSA mission.
- Develop documentation such as procedures, flow charts, operating guides, and other necessary instructions for supported systems.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Selective Service registration, if applicable.
- Fingerprinting, background and/or security investigation may be required; job offers are contingent on results.
- Probationary period: 1 year. Relocation expenses will not be paid.

- Minimum: GS-13 level specialized experience or equivalent. Experience must include IT Project Management, hybrid cloud technologies, enterprise standards for cloud infrastructure, Linux/Windows administration for cloud projects, and virtualized infrastructure management.
