We’re looking for a motivated Assistant Project Manager (APM) who is early in their career and eager to learn the business from the ground up. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with foundational construction or mechanical experience who want hands-on exposure to project management, estimating, and field operations
.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll work closely with an experienced Project Manager and field team to support the successful execution of commercial mechanical projects throughout the Chicagoland area. This role offers exposure to all phases of construction and is designed to help you grow into a Project Manager role over time.
You’ll gain experience in:
- Mechanical systems & construction operations
- Project documentation and coordination
- Design-build collaboration
- Field and office project support
- Support the Project Manager and field teams to ensure installations are completed correctly and efficiently.
- Assist with reviewing drawings, specifications, and installation plans.
- Help track and manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, and drawings.
- Maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, and project changes for both field and office use.
- Work with engineering teams on design-build projects and assist with documentation control.
- Review returned submittals and drawings for scope compliance and accuracy.
- Assist in coordinating project information between field teams, vendors, and management.
- Learn and apply best practices to help minimize rework and improve project efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management
, or a related field - Internship or 1–3 years of experience in construction, HVAC, or mechanical systems preferred
- Strong interest in learning project management and construction operations
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within the company
