Position Overview

The VP, Finance, functions as a key member of the Mahoney Leadership Team (LT). This is a senior executive position responsible for overseeing Mahoney’s financial operations, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring financial health and compliance. This individual manages all aspects of the company’s finances, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, financial analysis, business finance and Treasury activities. This position has primary responsibility for internal controls throughout the company and is integral to building processes that leverage the ERP system and drive efficiencies.

This position is located at our Woodridge, IL office.

Starting annual salary: $200,000-$215,000

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the business finance, financial control/accounting and sustainability/traceability function
  • Responsible for ERP (Oracle) and data and process development to drive digitalization and efficiency
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Build scalable financial infrastructure and leverage modern financial technologies and data analytics.
  • Advise the CEO and executive team on financial decisions, risk management, and investment opportunities.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to maximize profits and support growth.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and industry-specific standards in alignment with Neste Group requirements
  • Develop and execute the organization’s financial strategy in alignment with its overall goals and objectives and technical ERP development
  • Partner with operations and other departments to improve margins, reduce costs, and support strategic initiatives.
  • Assess and manage risks, ensuring the organization maintains appropriate risk management strategies and practices
  • Monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement and implement actions as necessary
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and regulatory requirements, as well as Neste Group consolidation requirements
  • Responsible for the accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed assets.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure accuracy of financial data, and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Manage the organization’s treasury functions, cash flow and liquidity, ensuring adequate funding for operations and capital expenditures in line with Neste Group requirements
  • Build and lead a high‑performing finance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities
  • Fully participate and support all safety initiatives
  • Manage a team of professional employees and provide timely performance evaluations that are constructive.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • 10 plus years of demonstrated financial management, leadership in an environment of continuous improvement preferably with experience in both service and manufacturing industries
  • 2‑3 years of experience preferably with Oracle or another end‑to‑end ERP process in IT project management, infrastructure, and related technical skills
  • Thorough understanding of accounting concepts/GAAP
  • Advanced analytical and numerical skills for financial modeling and forecasting
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business strategies.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Leadership and communication skills to collaborate with C‑level executives and manage finance team
  • Proficiency in modern financial technologies, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Negotiations, risk management, and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Participation in a collaborative style of problem‑solving including data gathering, consensus building and formation of recommendations
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Strong knowledge of fiscal management, tax compliance, financial benchmarking, and strategic planning.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field; master’s degree preferred
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CMA desirable.
Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Occasional bending.

Frequent typing and standing/walking.
