ECI provides engineering, system planning, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities and energy developers throughout the U.S. Our experience spans system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.
ECI has an immediate opening for a Transmission Project Engineer in Woods Cross, UT. The successful candidate will work under the direction and mentorship of a Senior Engineer or Project Manager to direct a project team in the development of design calculations, detailed drawings, specifications, and other construction documents for power line facilities.
ResponsibilitiesThe role includes the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new and upgraded transmission lines. Specific duties include:
- Creating project scope documents
- Finite element design modeling using PLS-CADD software
- Engineering design of structures and foundations
- Developing loading, framing, foundation, and plan & profile drawing sets
- Creating staking sheets, sag charts, and construction exhibits
- Producing material and construction specifications
- Performing other design tasks as needed
- Assisting the Project Manager in planning and executing best‑in‑class projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, quality assurance, and oversight of Design Engineers, Designers, Drafters and support staff
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 6+ years of project and design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Advanced knowledge of transmission engineering principles
- Expertise in applicable codes, standards, and design tools
- Basic project management execution skills and ability to oversee and direct design personnel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills
- Team‑work oriented with ability to meet fast‑paced project schedules
- Willingness to meet client‑mandated travel/driving and drug/background checks
- PE license preferred
