Job Description
The Laundry production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and leading the tasks of all laundry production functions relating to the efficient processing of clean linen and soiled laundry in compliance with healthcare standards and regulations. This position, under the direction of the Laundry Assistant General Manager, will ensure the efficient workflow of the laundry team. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that quality standards are met, training is appropriate and ongoing, safety in the plant is a priority, and resources are utilized efficiently.
The position works in collaboration with production leadership to communicate operational concerns, product defects, assists with training and supports production with training and compliance. This position may cover for the Assistant General Manager as needed.
Full-time (4 x 10 hour shifts)
Hours:
8:00am - 6:30pm
- Holiday's required – except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, Plant is closed
- Some coverage of the 6:00am to 4:30pm shift may be required.
- Operational Oversight:
Assist in supervising day-to-day operations of the laundry plant to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. - Staff Supervision:
Oversee and support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation to maintain a productive and motivated team. - Process Optimization:
Implement and optimize processes to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance service quality. - Compliance Management:
Ensure adherence to healthcare standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines to maintain compliance and prevent issues. - Inventory Management:
Monitor and manage inventory levels of supplies and equipment, ensuring timely procurement and minimizing waste. - Quality Control:
Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure that laundry services meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations. - Safety Procedures:
Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and equipment and reduce the risk of accidents and injuries. - Cross-Department
Collaboration:
Work with other departments to streamline operations, address operational challenges, and support overall plant goals and objectives.
- Supervision:
Ability to supervise a team effectively, including overseeing staff, handling performance issues, and fostering a positive work environment. - Operational Expertise:
Strong understanding of laundry plant operations, including process optimization, workflow management, and equipment maintenance. - Problem‑Solving:
Proficiency in identifying operational issues, analyzing data, and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and address challenges. - Compliance and Safety Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines to ensure compliance and maintain a safe work environment. - Customer Service:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to address customer concerns, ensure satisfaction, and build strong client relationships. - Technical Proficiency:
Knowledge of and experience with laundry equipment, software systems, and technology used in plant operations. - Communication
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with staff, management, and customers, and to clearly convey information and instructions.
- Demonstrated capability to perform tasks requiring strong attention to detail, accuracy, and process improvement.
- Proven track record of successfully supervising teams, including experience with staff supervision, training, and performance management.
- Proven track record of a strong work ethic, reliability, and organizational skills, contributing to effective task management and productivity.
- Proficiency in technical and computer knowledge necessary to operate laundry systems, including experience with word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, email, and scheduling applications.
- A two‑year or more degree or certification in business management, operations management, or a related field, from an accredited institution. Education is verified.
