Certified Nursing Assistant
Job Details:
Level – Entry | Location – Woods Cross, UT 84010 | Position Type – Full-Time/Part-Time | Salary – $16.00–$18.00 per hour | Shift – Day
Provides certified nursing assistant services to assigned residents in accordance with care plans, facility policies and procedures, and at the direction of supervisors.
Required Qualifications- Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the state (preferred, not required).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Current Food Handler Permit.
- No disciplinary action in effect against certification.
- At least one year of experience as a CNA in long‑term care (preferred, not required).
- Supports nursing and other staff by performing assigned duties.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living per care plans and policies.
- Assists residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting.
- Coordinates dining room services – set up, clean up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of intake.
- Delivers nutritional supplements at assigned times and ensures intake.
- Documents and monitors residents’ weight; reports changes to nurse and supervisor.
- Monitors residents’ skin condition; reports pressure areas, skin breakdown, or tears.
- Assists nursing staff in toileting program activities.
- Completes daily flow sheets and documents each resident’s progress.
- Informs nurse/supervisor of factors interfering with performance or resident refusal.
- Reports changes in resident’s condition.
- Treats all residents with dignity and respect, protecting their rights.
- Adheres to facility policies and procedures, and to state/federal regulations and guidelines.
- Follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information.
- Reports noncompliance with policies or incidents to appropriate personnel.
- Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment to supervisor or administrator.
- Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or hazardous materials.
- Participates in life safety and emergency drills and training.
- Reports work‑related injuries and illnesses immediately.
- Follows infection control policies and procedures.
- Completes all assigned training and competency assessments.
- Attends care‑plan meetings for assigned residents.
- Participates in QAPI or facility assessment activities as needed.
- Accepts CNA assignments as staffing needs require, performing duties per policies and procedures.
- Uses proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care.
- Reads, writes, and speaks English.
- Supportive team member, contributing to teamwork.
- Makes independent decisions when warranted.
- Handles residents, families, visitors, and government agencies with tact.
- Shows patience and willingness to handle difficult residents and families.
- Communicates resident condition information clearly.
- Does not pose health or safety threat to others.
- Can move intermittently throughout the day.
- Meets general health requirements, including medical exams and immunization status.
- Works beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Assists in evacuation of residents during emergencies.
- Performs bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead lifting, and other physical movements.
- Exposes to falls, burns from equipment, and airborne contaminants; handles exposure to infectious waste, including AIDS, COVID‑19, Hepatitis B, and TB.
- Manages hostile or emotional residents, families, or staff.
- Possesses strong listening skills and conflict resolution ability.
- Basic computer skills, including navigation of electronic medical record systems.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with people of all ages and cultures.
- Walks, stands, sits, bends, and stoops for extended periods.
- Has dexterity to perform resident care tasks.
- Can lift, move, push, or pull a minimum of 35 pounds.
- Works beyond assigned hours, including weekends and holidays.
Employees agree to abide by facility policies, the compliance and ethics program, and all operational procedures. Violations may result in disciplinary action up to termination. Performance is evaluated annually using a scale from Unsatisfactory to Exceeds Standards.
