Accounting Assistant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join a close-knit organization for about 20 hours per week. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting day-to-day accounting operations, working collaboratively with a small team, and handling a steady volume of financial transactions with accuracy. The position focuses heavily on accounts payable activities while also assisting with journal entries, reconciliations, and other core accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, review coding for accuracy, and support the full accounts payable cycle in a timely manner.

- Prepare and enter journal entries to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure account balances are correct.

- Assist with accounts receivable tasks as needed, including recording payments and supporting transaction tracking.

- Maintain organized accounting documentation and ensure supporting records are complete and accessible.

- Work within Sage 100 and other accounting systems to update transactions and generate routine financial information.

- Collaborate with team members in a small, family-run office environment and communicate effectively across daily operations.

Requirements - Demonstrated experience supporting accounts payable functions in an accounting or finance role.

- Hands-on ability to prepare journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger support.

- Experience completing bank reconciliations and resolving variances efficiently.

- Familiarity with invoice coding and processing high-accuracy financial transactions.

- Working knowledge of accounting software such as Sage 100 or Quick Books.

- Ability to work effectively in a small team setting with a detail-oriented and approachable communication style.

- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills in a part-time work schedule.
