Job Summary:
Superintendents are the on-site project point of contacts. They are responsible for the day-to-day construction activities that ensure Primus projects are completed on schedule, within budget and to the quality standards required by the owner. This includes supervising material deliveries, subcontractor activities, building inspections and other responsibilities described below. Superintendents also champion Primus's safety initiatives and ensure the owner's sustainability goals are achieved.
General Duties:
Field Operation Set-UpIdentify job site facility requirements and work with the project manager to acquire assets as necessary
Establish and maintain job site security if required
Contact local building and permitting officials and set up parameters for job site inspections
Receive all contract documents and maintain onsite files
Review documents for practicality and constructibility and communicate deficiencies to the project manager for resolution
Job Site Scheduling & Coordination Work with the project manager in the selection of subcontractors and suppliers
Hold start-up meeting (Welcome to Primus) with all subcontractors to review scope, safety, schedule and quality of work Monitor purchasing and delivery schedules
Develop and monitor short term schedules
Conduct weekly progress meetings with the project manager and subcontractors
Coordinate activities of all on-site subcontractors for efficient operation
Monitor job site activities regularly for adherence to schedule and quality requirements
Review all submittals and shop drawings to verify they are in accordance with project specifications and drawings
Loss Control Establish and enforce an on-site loss control program in conformance with corporate loss control guidelines
Conduct jobsite safety inspections, no less than once a week; complete jobsite safety checklist and follow up on corrective actions
Address safety concerns in regular progress meetings with all subcontractors and personnel
Complete report on all loss control incidents and submit immediately (24/7), then investigate thoroughly to prevent reoccurrence
Quality Management Support the project manager in the subcontractor bidding and awarding stages to ensure that prospective subcontractors are aware of quality requirements
Conduct pre-startup meeting with all subcontractors and project managers to welcome them and outline quality requirements
Ensure that work installed conforms to contract documents and quality standards
Confirm insurance coverage before subcontractor mobilization
Complete quality check lists daily on all work in progress
Coordinate activities of independent testing lab personnel and ensure understanding of the project requirements
Receive and review subcontractors' daily inspection reports
Conduct inspections of work as it nears completion and issue punch lists to Subcontractors involvedIMP sign off Qualifications and Skills Primus is looking for strong leaders with 4+ years of on-site construction supervision experience, preferably in a design-build environment.
A bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field is desired, but equivalent work experience is acceptable.
Candidates must have exceptional time management skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail is a must.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly are essential.
Candidates should be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
Experience using the construction management software Viewpoint is preferred.
Experience using the BIM software Revit in the field is a plus.
Candidates should also be comfortable with frequent travel and living on project sites.
Work Conditions Works on project sites with exposure to heavy equipment and environmental conditions
Works in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
Physical Requirements Ability to frequently lift/move equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds
Ability to use hands/fingers to grasp, move, handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to ascend/descend a ladder as needed
