ABOUT

PART-TIME | HOURLY | SEASONAL

Department: Education

Reports to: Theatre Education Manager & Visual Arts Education Manager

Anticipated Pay: $375/wk+ Commensurate with Experience

Teaching Artists serve as a guide, mentor, and creative leader for students experiencing theatre and visual arts camps. They help shape students’ confidence, creativity, and sense of belonging through hands‑on arts education.

WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO HERE

You will help create the kind of summer that students remember for years. As a Summer Camp Teaching Artist, you will walk alongside young artists. Each week, you will be assigned to a specific camp and gain experience throughout the summer in all disciplines, working with students of various ages.

You will partner closely with other Teaching Artists to bring thoughtfully planned curriculum to life. In Theatre camps, you may help develop original storylines with students, guide them in writing parody lyrics, assist in recording, and help direct and choreograph performances tailored to their age and ability. In Art camps, you will lead hands‑on creative lessons, helping students experiment with materials, techniques, and self‑expression.

Beyond curriculum execution, you will be a steady and supportive presence. You will welcome students each morning, ensure their safety, and manage classroom energy with warmth and clarity. You will prepare materials, organize supplies, and help maintain an environment that feels both structured and creatively alive.

YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
  • You genuinely enjoy working with students – whether it is their first or 50th creative experience and believe it should be joyful, affirming, and meaningful.
  • You are energetic and dependable, even when the day is long and the room is loud.
  • You thrive in collaborative environments and are excited to support others while stepping confidently into leadership moments of your own.
  • You can manage a classroom with both warmth and structure, balancing creativity with clear expectations.
  • You are organized and proactive, eager to prepare materials, staying ahead of schedule, and keeping camp objectives on track.
  • You communicate clearly and kindly with students and fellow artists.
  • You see challenges as opportunities to model patience, positivity, and problem‑solving for young artists.
  • You are excited to contribute to a growing arts organization that values leadership, initiative, and continuous improvement.
