Position: Main Operating Room RN - Full-time Days 7a-5p

Full-Time RN Circulator – 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Day Shift), United States of America.

Job Summary

The RN O.R. Circulator is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The role is guided by Well Star’s Professional Practice Model, 5‑Star Nursing, and evidence‑based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Well Star Core Competencies.

All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence‑based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care planning.
  • Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
  • Partners with the patient and significant others (as appropriate) using appropriate methods for setting and purpose (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned patient teaching) and keeps patients and significant others updated, focusing on patient goals.
  • Practices using current clinical practice standards.
  • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes a professional care delivery model, including diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods (interdisciplinary rounds, case review, etc.) and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
  • Participates and supports performance improvement initiatives inclusive of all stakeholders, research, and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care, including leading such activities and supporting shared governance at all levels of the system.
  • Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education, including population‑specific education.
  • Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses, staff, or students across disciplines to ensure a current and future qualified workforce and model professional nursing practice.
  • Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing, including participating in value analysis and evaluating patient‑care products.
  • Upholds all healthcare system, organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements and standards such as TJC Patient Safety Goals and Well Star Health System safety absolutes.
  • Participates in data collection, poses relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence‑based practice, consults appropriate experts, and uses appropriate resources and evidence to address practice questions.
  • Proactively plans for the care of patients across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
  • Participates in the development of protocols and procedures when called upon or initiates them in collaboration with care managers and other team members to achieve best‑practice outcomes (e.g., decreasing re‑admissions, avoidable days, adverse events).
  • Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all Well Star Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required

Minimum Education

• Associates in Nursing or Nursing Diploma (Preferred: Bachelor's in Nursing).

Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications

• RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN Multi‑State Compact
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS or BLS‑I Instructor All certifications must be in effect upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Required Minimum Experience

• 1–2 years of direct patient care experience with operating room circulation experience preferred.

Required Minimum Skills
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Basic computer and technology proficiency for clinical support.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies decisively, calmly, and respectfully.
  • Excellent time‑management skills.
  • Proficiency in evidence‑based nursing practices and analytical/critical thinking.
