Woodstock Community Unit School District 200, serving a diverse student population of approximately 6,700, is located in northwestern Chicagoland. District 200 is seeking candidates for the position of Principal of Greenwood Elementary School for the  school year.

Candidates for this position should have a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience and a minimum of two years of successful school administrative experience. An IL Principal license is required. This is a 10.5-month position, with a salary range of $105,000 to $125,000. The compensation package for the principal position includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance and a term life insurance policy.

  • A master's degree in education, or higher, with a major in educational administration.
  • A valid state certificate to practice as a school principal.
  • At least two years of successful experience in public school administration and supervision.
  • At least three years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Supervises

All personnel serving in assigned school, including resource and special service personnel while functioning in assigned school.

Job Goal

To service as the educational leader in the building, with the primary responsibility for improvement of instruction. To accomplish this goal, a majority of time shall be spent on curriculum and staff development activities.

Performance Responsibilities
  • LEADERSHIP
  • Promotes a positive climate throughout the school by demonstrating a commitment to students, staff, parents and the educational program.
  • Facilitates school based decision-making to enable the staff, students and parents to participate, as appropriate, in developing and accomplishing school goals.
  • Working as part of the administrative team, prepares and submits, to the superintendent, recommendations relative to matters requiring board action.
  • Recommends, develops and implements a comprehensive educational program to promote student learning.
  • Encourages staff to develop a program of professional growth and to participate in district inservice activities.
  • Provides for his/her professional growth.
  • Participates in the district curriculum development and review process.
  • Facilitates the development of a School Improvement Plan through the evaluation of school performance through standardized testing and other methods.
  • Provides for a comprehensive public relations program with the school community.
  • ADMINISTRATION
  • Consistently applies board policies and administrative regulations, laws and contracts to staff, students and parents.
  • Recommends employment and assignment for all staff members assigned to the school, following personnel guidelines.
  • Evaluates individual staff's performance based on criteria and standards and reports information about any employee whose service is unsatisfactory.
  • Supervises the maintenance of adequate records for the school including financial accounts, inventories, census data and scholastic records.
  • Supervises a system of employee accounting, including personnel records, time sheets and attendance records.
  • Supervises support services in the areas of maintenance, security, food services, health services, recreational programs, financial and accounting functions, library activities and special education programs.
  • Supervises the development of a schedule of classes within established guidelines.
  • Establishes guidelines for proper student conduct and implements a system for dealing with disciplinary problems.
  • Establishes and implements emergency procedures for fire, tornado, school closing and bus evacuation.
  • Communicates and monitors standards and procedures for the orderly maintenance of school facilities.
  • Attends meetings of the administrative team and, when requested, board of education meetings.
  • Attends school functions.
  • Assures appropriate pupil personnel services for identified students and participates in all aspects of such services.
  • Performs tasks as assigned by the superintendent.
  • DELEGATION
  • Delegates responsibilities to staff members according to the performance responsibilities found in their job descriptions.
Conditions of Employment

Ten, eleven or twelve months, depending upon the building assignment. Salary and working conditions to be established by the board of education.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually by the superintendent.
