AboutThe Role
The Emergency Transitional Housing (ETH) Coordinator provides housing-focused case management and rental assistance services to survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and stalking. This role supports clients as they transition from emergency shelter to transitional housing and ultimately to permanent housing. The Coordinator works to reduce housing barriers, prevent homelessness, administer rental assistance funds, and build strong landlord and community partnerships.
This position includes 24/7 rotational on-call expectations and requires independent judgment, strong documentation skills, and financial accountability.
Housing & Case Management
- Conduct intake assessments and determine program eligibility.
- Develop individualized housing stability plans.
- Provide intensive case management, life skills coaching, advocacy, and referrals.
- Assist clients in applying for state and federal benefits, including Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, Social Security, and other eligible programs.
- Conduct weekly client meetings in accordance with grant guidelines.
- Conduct regular home visits to ensure housing stability and compliance.
- Provide education regarding the Illinois Domestic Violence Act, Orders of Protection, and stalking laws.
Emergency & Transitional Housing Coordination
- Coordinate emergency hotel placements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with landlords and property managers.
- Educate landlords on agency confidentiality and safety requirements.
- Identify new housing opportunities through community outreach.
- Administer rental assistance, including security deposits, utility deposits, moving costs, and short-term subsidies.
- Manage application updates and recertifications to maintain housing stability.
Financial & Grant Compliance
- Maintain accurate client documentation in accordance with agency and funder requirements.
- Maintain financial logs and assist with tracking forms.
- Reconcile grant-related purchases promptly.
- Maintain and update ETH tracking spreadsheets.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
Collaboration & Leadership Support
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure wraparound services.
- Attend staff meetings and required trainings.
- Support the onboarding of new staff.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, or closely related human services field.
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, homelessness, or vulnerable populations.
- Strong documentation and case management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial assistance funds responsibly.
- Knowledge of confidentiality standards and trauma-informed care.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
Preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
- Experience managing housing grants or rental assistance programs.
- Familiarity with Illinois housing resources and entitlement systems.

Wage starting at $25 per hour (26 pay periods/ paid bi-weekly).
